It was rough weather today and the air was full of sea spray making the shot difficult from 24 K's away. But you can clearly see the hull has come apart. Apparently a further 70 containers went overboard during the storm that did this damage. Media is reporting that the stern section will be allowed to sink. I believe this will also be the destiny of the bow section. Or it will just be left to break up on the top of Astrolabe reef. Meanwhile all hell has broken out again on local beaches especially Waihi where the easterly weather is taking the containers and their contents. Being an ex scuba diver a wreck of this significance and size will be a great attraction for divers and the diving industry in future.
