Wakefield (previously know as Pitfure) is a quiet little town and a good coffee stop over coming back home from the lakes to Nelson.
A couple of things caught my eye.
The old Post Office (Built 1908) and this sign post. The Will Watch was the first boat of settlers that came to Nelson around 1840/41. My GG Grandfather was on board.
The old wooden built post office reminds us of the days, before my time, when the post office was an important connection between communities and the rest of the world. Maybe that's why the design was so, well, grand!
