Bola hit new Zealand hard over a 7 day period in 1988.
Locally it caused many slips in the Kaimai range, flooding around town and swollen rivers spewed out tonnes of driftwood on to local beaches. It was a very scary few days.
I have mentioned this to my family and finally I found a few pictures I took on the Mount beach after the event. A big clean up followed.
