Ive been in the paint and coatings industry for well over half a century. During that time I have had a lot to do with finely ground natural and synthetic iron oxide pigments. Mostly, but not exclusively, these have been imported from Spain and Germany. I was pleasantly surprised, during a recent visit to the Nelson Museum, to see for the first time in my career a large chunk of natural iron oxide taken from a deposit in Golden Bay.
